#3 – The power of contrasts

Like yin and yang, day and night, man and woman, positive and negative are opposites that are profoundly linked together. There is no doubt in my mind that it is a proper art to be able to see the positive in the negative. But this connection also provides an implication that many, probably deliberately, do not think about.

As much as we would like to say that there is no negative in positive, this is not true. The one can not exist without the other, just like black is only black because it contrasts white. It is  deeply embedded in our beings that we should always see the positive in the negative, but who would look for the opposite?

No, I am not advocating that we should all look for the dark side of anything positive, but I believe it is very liberating to remember that a symbiotic relationships is exactly that – it affects the counterpart no matter what.

To become better one has to explore the dark side as well as the good side, to improve we also have to fail. Do not be afraid of failure nor success, as no matter what you do, there will always be both in life. The contrasts are what makes this journey amazing. To me, this insight is very empowering.
